Antique Brass Bed Care

Antique brass bed care may seem like a daunting task, but in reality it is a fairly straightforward affair. Brass is not like silver, it does not tarnish actively. However brass does lose its luster if it is not kept polished. Recent innovations in metallurgy have yielded compounds that form a self-protective barrier on the surface of the metal, but these new alloys were not around when antiques were being built.

And that’s why there is such a thing as antique brass bed care. The beds themselves will be structurally sound… they’ve lasted this far after all. But they won’t have the same luster that they initially show without regular maintenance. The maintenance isn’t even that difficult.

For the most part, all you need to do to take care of your brass bed is wipe it down with a cloth and a detergent diluted with warm water. Doing this about once a month will keep your brass looking as good as new. And if you’re going to pay for an antique bed, don’t you want it to look as good as possible?
