An antique day bed can be an extremely useful addition to a multi-purpose room, such as a study or home-office area. Day beds were designed to be a place to recline for a time during the heat of the day, but also double as a seating area. So if you have a study, but also want to be able to use the room as an extra bedroom during the holidays, the day bed is a great option for you.

This ability to make the same space perform multiple functions is what constitutes the primary appeal of antique day beds. A day bed can be used as a bench for appreciating a piano performance during the day, and then double as sleeping quarters for an extra guest that night.
