Finding authentic parts for antique beds can be a difficult task. The hardware and European antique bed rails can be the most difficult parts to find. Headboards, frames and other large pieces are hard to lose, but hardware is easy to lose and antique hardware is even more prone to being lost to time. No one makes these pieces anymore although they can be custom manufacturer.

European antique bed rails were often made from wood to save on cost and weight which means that time may have taken its toll on the rails while the metal bed was resilient to the elements. Often the best thing to do is to have new ones fabricated. Almost any carpenter or cabinet maker could make an adequate bed rail, and it will be covered by a mattress anyway so looks are not nearly as important.

European antique bed rails can be found with a little bit of sleuthing and good furniture detective work. Check in antique stores, furniture stores as well as the internet to find specific pieces if they are necessary.
