Metal Antique Beds

There are many styles of antique beds.  With many different types of metal used to create many different looks there enough metal antique beds to fit every style.  Often time’s metal  beds are chosen because, while they do need restoration, they need much less restoration then an antique bed made of wood.  Another advantage of choosing a metal bed is that they are sturdier in build compared to antique beds from the same era made of wood.  Choosing an antique metal bed can be very beneficial and will bring elegance to your bedroom.

Brass beds are common in metal antique beds.  They were used in the early 19th century by individuals of all social classes.  Because iron was readily available these beds could be formed very elaborately or very simply.  Many brass beds are actually formed mostly of iron, because it was much cheaper, but brass was used in the accents.  The widespread use of these beds left them with a classical history.  Many brass antique beds are still in circulation and replications of these beds are extremely popular.  In choosing a brass bed make sure its seams are still sturdy and crack free, sometimes this can be irreparable and damage the strength of the bed.

Antique iron beds are the most common metal antique beds.  Beds constructed of iron are very durable which allows them to with stand the test of time.  Most iron beds were constructed by hand before World War 1.  Their intricate designs and iron working make them not only beautiful but extremely sought after because of their excellent craftsmanship.  Though these beds were later manufactured to cut time and cost of production their intricate hand designed ancestors could never be duplicated.  Their thick, seamless, and strong build has allowed them the durability they need to continue use.  In choosing an iron bed make sure the bed has remained sturdy and was manufactured in a safe manor with no hard edges or cracks.
