Reproduction cast iron beds are made with the same techniques and materials as antique cast iron beds which can be over 200 years old. That is a long time for any material object to last and is largely due to the material used which when kept free from rust could last for hundreds of years longer. Corrosion is their biggest enemy.

Reproduction cast iron beds look and feel just like their aged counterparts and many even come with a weathered finish to make the new ones look just as old as the original. It can be a difficult task trying to discover the differences with many reproductions being so authentic that only a chemist and possibly the antique road show could discover the actual age of the product. Some craftsmen even use iron from that era for an even more authentic reproduction.

Reproduction cast iron beds can be found through a variety of retailers and although hand crafted beds are preferred in most cases there are cheaper machined versions available for those sleepy people on a budget. A hand crafted bed with cost a pretty penny and should be paired with an equally comfy mattress and stylish bedding for maximum effect, and unfortunately, cost as well, though they are much cheaper than an original in good shape.
